I now have now visited most of sushi restaurants in Charlotte, Yamazaru is hands down the best. Yamazaru offers well priced sushi and I have enjoyed almost every roll I've tried so far.
The location is medium sized and has gotten huge popular. I would expect a short wait during popular dinner hours. -

Our go to sushi spot. Only down side, I think the rest of Charlotte knows about it too. Always busy....if really busy, I would recommend sitting at the bar for some really good handcrafted cocktails.
Can't go wrong with any of the sushi rolls. -

This place is a step up from Ru San.. and I know they're sisters.. customer service was soo bad at ru San that I haven't been back since.
Yama is the total opposite. Great customer service. Nice ambiance. But like Ru San. It's hard to hold a convo since the place is small and it can get loud in there..
I ordered 2 types of sushi which I like a lot.. However, I also order the Yaki Soba. Which I didn't like it at all. I didn't say anything because it's no point.
I enjoyed my cold sake and finish my night with a full satisfied belly -

Everything we ordered here was delicious, that's all you need to know. And we ordered quite a variety starting off with the tuna tartar and grilled octopus balls, with main entrees katsu don, chirashi, and a sushi and nigiri combo. The fish was fresh, portions were quite large, and taste was authentic. The place also has plenty of seating both inside and outside, so you likely won't have to wait. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for great Japanese food.

It's easy to see why trendy Yamazaru is such a hit among the Queen City's food-erati. The sushi and Asian-fusion menu is en pointe, the service is excellent, the location is strategic, and the energy is great. Oh -- and the sushi chefs are hunky and cute! Just make sure you heed the signs and move your car before midnight so you don't get towed! Our tempura bowls were bursting with flavor and the crab rangoon delightful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for tasty food and crowd-watching in Southend Charlotte.
